Give your reef a breath of fresh air
At Modern Reef, we’re always looking for practical ways to create more stable, thriving reef systems.
In many modern homes, elevated indoor CO₂ levels lead to low pH, slower coral growth, and more nuisance algae. The new Skim AEROX Ultra‑Pure Spheres CO₂ Scrubber Media solves this by cleaning the air going into your protein skimmer – helping to stabilise pH and improve overall tank health.
Why we like Skim AEROX
-
Ultra‑pure, medical-grade made explicitly for reef aquariums
Designed expressly for skimmer air intake – no fillers, just high‑quality CO₂‑absorbing media. -
Helps stabilise and elevate pH
By stripping CO₂ from the skimmer’s intake air, Skim AEROX can help raise and stabilise your aquarium pH, especially in closed rooms with elevated CO₂. -
Supports coral growth and colour
A more stable, optimised pH environment benefits SPS, LPS and soft corals, supporting better growth, colour and calcification. -
Helps reduce nuisance algae pressure
More stable chemistry and improved pH can help reduce conditions that favour the growth of unwanted algae. -
Simple colour‑change indicator
The media turns from white to violet as it becomes exhausted, so you can see at a glance when it’s time to replace.
How to use Skim AEROX
-
Fill your CO₂ scrubber reactor
Add 750–1000 ml of Skim AEROX to an appropriate CO₂ scrubber reactor. -
Connect to your skimmer’s air intake
Connect the reactor directly to your protein skimmer’s air inlet so that all intake air is drawn through the media. -
Typical usage on reef systems
In a 500–750 L reef aquarium, the media is typically effective for 4–6 weeks, depending on:-
Indoor CO₂ levels
-
Skimmer airflow
-
-
Monitor and replace
-
Watch for the white‑to‑violet colour change in the media
-
Keep an eye on your aquarium pH
When most of the media has turned violet and pH has returned to normal, it’s time to replace.
-
